Media wall full build - start to finish

Step 1: Preperation

Stage 1 of 6

Step 1: Preperation

Before any work begins, the wall is assessed and the power is first fixed, along with video feeds such as Sky, cable, and aerial. Wall dimensions are compared to the CAD drawing and a center line is marked.

Step 2: Framing

Stage 2 of 6

Step 2: Framing

A timber frame is constructed against the existing wall, forming a solid skeleton for the build. Uprights and shelf supports are positioned at key heights to map out the TV opening and alcove sections.

Step 3: Plasterboard
3

Stage 3 of 6

Step 3: Plasterboard

Fire rated plasterboard is cut and fixed to the frame. Cable routes and back box positions are not cut out at this stage, keeping everything hidden within the wall. Boards are carefully jointed and screwed at every stud.

Step 4: Plaster

Stage 4 of 6

Step 4: Plaster

Beads are added and a plaster skim is applied across the entire surface, bringing the wall to a perfectly flat and smooth finish.

Step 5: Decoration

Stage 5 of 6

Step 5: Decoration

Once fully dried, the wall can be painted. Mist coat first, then two full coats of emulsion. All edges, reveals, and returns are cut in cleanly for a crisp, professional finish. Skirting / Coving is then added and finished in white.

Step 6: Final

The TV is mounted, fire place fitted and cables are routed to media equipment. All sockets, faceplates and lighting are fitted. The finished media wall is clean, functional, and completely bespoke.
